Kriek cherry beer is a variation of the Belgian beer Lambic, famous for its ancient brewing tradition. The name "Lambic" was inherited from the old Belgian city of Lembeek. And the word "Kriek" comes from the name of a variety of dark red cherries.
The recipe for cherry beer dates back to the time of the Crusades. Legend has it that a crusader returning from a crusade wanted to brew beer that resembled the blood of Christ.
